Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 400 AM EDT Mon Aug 28 2023 Valid 00Z Tue Aug 29 2023 - 00Z Tue Sep 05 2023 Another day of a hybrid trade and land/sea breeze pattern seems possible for Monday, as troughing overhead provides a lessening inversion for scattered showers. But by Tuesday and beyond, this trough will move quickly west giving way to ridging aloft and promoting more stable conditions. At the surface, high pressure northeast of the state drifting west will increase the pressure gradient and lead to strengthening trades to breezy or perhaps strong levels, lasting through late week before somewhat weakening for the weekend. Meanwhile, what is currently Tropical Storm Irwin in the eastern Pacific is now forecast to move more slowly westward while weakening, and model guidance no longer shows even a remaining trough or its moisture to approach Hawaii.
