Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 336 AM EDT Thu Oct 05 2023 Valid 00Z Fri Oct 06 2023 - 00Z Fri Oct 13 2023 Another day of a land/sea breeze pattern is likely on Thursday for most of Hawaii, as a frontal boundary analyzed just north of the state disrupts the typical pressure gradient that leads to trades. Moisture convergence associated with this front could lead to enhanced clouds and showers for Kauai Thursday as the front stalls and dissipates. By Friday, the surface high forming northwest of the state will extend its ridge toward Hawaii, with its pressure gradient sufficient to reform easterly trades. Thus a more typical trade wind pattern with any showers focused on windward/mauka areas is expected to form late this week and lasting into early next week. Some model guidance shows another moisture axis atop Kauai around Sunday, while some has it staying north of the islands. Trades may decrease somewhat by the middle of next week, and another cold front may approach the state late next week. Tate
