The trailing cold from from this mid-latitude low is expected to clear the far northwestern Islands and come close to the central Islands, including Oahu. The frontal boundary then washes out by the weekend with the main subtropical high building back in northwest and north of the state through early next week, and the upper ridge should also be building stronger overhead. In terms of sensible weather, light and variable low level winds are expected to increase going into the weekend as the normal easterly trade wind pattern resumes, and northeasterly flow north of the frontal boundary. Mainly easterly flow should continue going into early next week with a decent pressure gradient near and north of the Islands. However, no major areas of organized heavy rainfall are expected over the next 7 days. Hamrick
