Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 350 AM EDT Fri Nov 03 2023 Valid 00Z Sat Nov 04 2023 - 00Z Sat Nov 11 2023 A surface ridge over Hawaii early Friday will lead to light winds with a land/sea breeze pattern setting up. But easterly trades look to quickly increase late Friday and into the weekend as the surface pressure gradient increases over the state with a high to the north. This should transition any cloud and shower formation to be located over windward/mauka areas, but with ridging aloft, not much rainfall looks likely. The exception could be with a frontal boundary that is forecast to stall to the north of the state late week, with pooling moisture just ahead of it sneaking into Kauai by early next week. Rain chances look to peak there around Monday-Tuesday and perhaps lasting into midweek. Meanwhile, trade winds will stay relatively strong through much of next week, while the ridge may weaken aloft. This could allow for some increasing windward/mauka showers for the latter half of next week. Tate
