Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 247 AM EST Fri Dec 08 2023 Valid 00Z Sat Dec 09 2023 - 00Z Sat Dec 16 2023 Through late this week, a front will push south and then likely stall just north of the state, but could push a band of weak moisture into Kauai for some increasing shower chances there. Meanwhile this pattern has reduced the typical trade winds, and weak winds favoring land and sea breezes should remain in place through Friday-Saturday. By early next week, trades look to increase again to around moderate levels with a relatively weak surface ridge poking in from the east, and then could strengthen further from the northeasterly direction by Tuesday-Wednesday as a surface high comes in from the northwest. The pattern may allow for some windward/mauka showers. There is ample uncertainty at this point if another cold front could approach or move through the state for mid to late week, with the GFS the most aggressive in pushing a front all the way through the state while other guidance stalls it to the north or just sneaks it into the northwestern islands. This will continue to be monitored. Tate
