Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 226 AM EST Wed Feb 07 2024 Valid 00Z Thu Feb 08 2024 - 00Z Thu Feb 15 2024 High pressure to the northeast of Hawaii will continue to support a period of brisk to strong winds through about Thursday. Winds look to trend much lighter and in a more southeasterly direction thereafter as the flow turns more zonal and a couple of systems pass well to the north. The overall pattern supports mostly dry conditions with any showers mainly confined to windward facing slopes. A slight uptick in shower chances around Sunday-Monday with a shortwave moving through the region. Upper ridging looks to build back over the state mid-next week with potential for a strong cold front to approach from the Northwest in about a weeks time. The latest models and ensembles continue to show excellent agreement on this pattern with some variability in some of the smaller scale details. Santorelli
