Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 325 AM EDT Mon Mar 11 2024 Valid 00Z Tue Mar 12 2024 - 00Z Tue Mar 19 2024 High pressure to the north of the state through Monday will maintain brisk to strong trades that will focus showers over windward/mountain terrain. Meanwhile, the guidance also shows an upper low tracking over Hawaii Tuesday-Wednesday and models do show some general agreement that precipitable water values and rainfall should increase in association with this upper low. The surface high to the north will accelerate eastward in response to a cold front and deepening trough moving in from the west. This should bring moderately strong northerly winds spreading from west to east following the frontal passage around Wednesday-Thursday next week. More stable and drier conditions should follow next Friday and the weekend as upper ridging moves in over the state and high pressure becomes re-established to the northwest. Santorelli
