Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 314 AM EDT Mon Jun 24 2024 Valid 00Z Tue Jun 25 2024 - 00Z Tue Jul 02 2024 Latest guidance continues to show a typical easterly trade wind pattern through the next seven days, supported by high pressure meandering to the north of the state. Expect brisk winds through about Monday or Tuesday, followed by somewhat lower wind speeds later in the week as the upper high weakens and upper troughing approaches from the East and eventually moves over or just north of Hawaii. Through much of the week, windward/mountain focused showers should stay on the lighter side but some increase in moisture is possible with the upper low approach next weekend. Models show good overall agreement on this pattern, but some continued timing uncertainty with the upper trough/low east of Hawaii. The GFS remains on the faster side, tracking the upper low through Hawaii earlier than the better model consensus. Either way, not much is expected in terms of sensible weather from this feature besides overall lighter/weak wind speeds and some increased showery activity. Santorelli
