Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 304 AM EDT Sat Jun 29 2024 Valid 00Z Sun Jun 30 2024 - 00Z Sun Jul 7 2024 An upper low will pass just north of Hawaii through this weekend, and then gradually lift to the north and weaken going into early next week, with good model agreement on this. This will be accompanied by an inverted surface trough crossing the state. Upper level ridging then builds over the state going into next week, with the main surface high centered well north of the state near 40 degrees north. There will likely be some shower enhancement across the larger Islands going through the weekend, followed by the more typical trade wind and terrain focused shower activity. Some drier air aloft could reach the state by late next week, and this could reduce the coverage of showers. The trades should generally be out of the east or ENE most days, and at speeds of 10-20 mph with higher gusts. Hamrick
