Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 358 AM EDT Sun Jul 07 2024 Valid 00Z Mon Jul 08 2024 - 00Z Mon Jul 15 2024 A persistent mid-upper ridge is in place across Hawaii and is likely to remain through the first half of the week. Meanwhile at the surface, high pressure north of the state will start to strengthen in the next couple of days, enhancing trade winds from moderate levels to breezy levels by around Tuesday. Overall the ridge aloft and generally below normal moisture levels will promote a relatively dry pattern with only some light showers favoring typical windward areas. There may be a minor uptick in shower coverage around Tuesday as moisture briefly increases. The upper ridge axis is currently forecast to shift north midweek and beyond, as a minor weakness in the heights may track across Hawaii on the southern side of the ridge. This may allow for a temporary increase in windward showers again around Wednesday-Thursday, but still with pretty minor rain amounts. Breezy trade winds should continue into the latter half of the week as well, given the surface high to the north. Tate
