Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 309 AM EDT Mon Jul 15 2024 Valid 00Z Tue Jul 16 2024 - 00Z Tue Jul 23 2024 Models and ensembles continue to indicate that high pressure to the north of the Hawaiian Islands will maintain breezy to strong trade winds over the next couple of days. A mostly dry pattern is expected with the state in a position to the west of a mean upper trough position. Expect mainly light showers for windward/mauka locations into midweek as trades ease. Later week, some influx of increased moisture into the islands from the southeast of the state may fuel some uptick of precipitation chances into the islands. High pressure rebuilding to the north of the state by the weekend may rejuvenate trades. The National Hurricane Center is also monitoring an area of interest over the tropical eastern Pacific that could bring deeper moisture and maritime threats to the east of the islands in about a week.
