Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 300 AM EDT Tue Jul 16 2024 Valid 00Z Wed Jul 17 2024 - 00Z Wed Jul 24 2024 Breezy trades and supporting high pressure to the north of the Hawaiian Islands should ease into midweek. A favored composite of reasonably well clustered models and ensembles indicates that a mostly dry pattern with mainly light showers for windward/mauka locations may linger with the state in a position to the west of a mean upper trough. Later week, some influx of increased moisture into the islands from the southeast of the state may fuel some uptick of precipitation chances into the islands. High pressure rebuilding to the north of the state from the weekend into early next week will also rejuvenate trades. The National Hurricane Center is also monitoring an area of interest over the tropical eastern Pacific that could bring deeper moisture and maritime threats to the east-northeast of the islands in about a week.
