Latest model guidance continue to show an upper level ridge and
mean surface high pressure north to northeast of the islands
maintaining brisk to strong easterly trade winds through at least
this weekend. This may lead to high surf and gusty winds with
increasing moisture leading to some heavier showers along eastern
slopes of the southernmost islands later in the week/next weekend.
Trades should weaken by early to mid next week as the upper high
moves away from the region and an amplified trough sends a cold
front into at least the northern islands later next week. Winds
will turn more northerly behind the front with some gusty winds
and rainfall to accompany the frontal passage as well.
