Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 249 AM EST Tue Nov 26 2024 Valid 00Z Wed Nov 27 2024 - 00Z Wed Dec 04 2024 After a weak front has passed through Hawaii, winds are forecast to have a northerly component over the next couple of days, with sheltered areas perhaps developing land/sea breezes. Relatively dry conditions and cool mornings are likely. A weak surface ridge setting up north of the state beyond midweek should cause winds to gradually veer toward the east. Moisture should become even more suppressed by Thursday-Friday as a mid-upper high comes overhead. Light to moderate trades and mostly dry weather are likely to continue into the weekend. By early next week models show a general signal for a front north of Hawaii but disagree on its position. The ECMWF takes this front farther south--still north of the state, but close enough that winds turn to southerly in response by Monday, whereas GFS runs maintain easterly trades. Even into Tuesday when the frontal position starts to align a bit better, models differ with its influence on the winds. So this will continue to be monitored as potentially impactful to the wind pattern over Hawaii. Tate
