Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 236 AM EST Wed Nov 27 2024 Valid 00Z Thu Nov 28 2024 - 00Z Thu Dec 05 2024 Winds are forecast to continue to have a northerly component Wednesday in a post-frontal environment over Hawaii. These should gradually veer toward the east as a weak surface ridge sets up north of the state later this week. Moisture levels will remain quite low as a mid-upper high comes overhead. Trades are forecast to gradually decrease in strength over the weekend, especially Sunday. Into early next week, trades look to get disrupted as a cold front approaches north of Hawaii and there is a general model signal for winds to respond by turning more southerly, though perhaps weak enough initially for land and sea breezes to dominate over the islands. By midweek the western islands may have a greater chance of seeing southerly/southwesterly winds as the front gets closer. Despite the southerly flow (at least aloft), moisture levels do not appear to increase significantly and the pattern may stay relatively dry into much of next week. Tate
