A front atop the western islands is forecast to dissipate over the
next day. The boundary is providing a focus for moisture to pool,
producing enhanced showers for Kauai and Oahu, while some
scattered showers are possible farther south in the moist
environment. Meanwhile trade winds will strengthen as a surface
ridge redevelops north of the state. A moist moderate to breezy
trade wind pattern, with showers favoring windward/mauka areas, is
forecast to last through much of this week. By late week into next
weekend, winds look to veer again in response to another front
northwest of Hawaii. Models vary on whether or not this front will
reach the western islands early next week, so this will continue
to be monitored.
