Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 236 AM EST Thu Jan 02 2025 Valid 00Z Fri Jan 03 2025 - 00Z Fri Jan 10 2025 Another day of moderate to breezy trades is forecast Thursday with a surface ridge of high pressure to the north of the state. The pattern should be generally dry but any showers that do form will favor windward/mauka areas. Winds are forecast to gradually veer Friday into Saturday in response to a front stalling northwest of Hawaii. Overall these southerly mean winds should be weaker and would allow land/sea breezes to set up with mostly fair weather. This pattern is expected to last through the weekend. Southerly wind speeds may increase by Monday in the western islands and Tuesday for most areas, ahead of another cold front. This front has a better chance to reach the western islands around midweek, supported by a trough aloft. These features could increase rain chances especially as moisture pools along the front. Model guidance varies with rainfall totals but none show hazardous heavy rain at this time. Tate
