Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 239 AM EST Mon Jan 06 2025 Valid 00Z Tue Jan 07 2025 - 00Z Tue Jan 14 2025 A preferred composite of generally compatible model and ensemble mass field forecast guidance supports a continuation of a generally benign weather pattern for Hawaii over the next couple of days with disrupted trades and limited rainfall chances. Winds veered from the south then southwest over the next couple of days will increase through the western islands with midweek frontal approach that remains supported by amplified upper trough approach and slow passage to the north and increasingly over the state later this week. Expect enhanced rain chances over the state as moisture pools within a well defined plume. Trades increase later week as high pressure re-bridges to the north of the islands in an expected transition to a more windward terrain focusing rainfall pattern to tap lingering pooled moisture. Trades may slacken a bit by next weekend under emerging troughing aloft/just east of the islands. Schichtel
