Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 249 AM EST Wed Jan 29 2025 Valid 00Z Thu Jan 30 2025 - 00Z Thu Feb 6 2025 A more active weather pattern is in store across Hawaii for the remainder of the work week. A developing wave of low pressure tracking towards the region from the west-northwest is expected to pass north of the Islands Thursday night. This would mainly affect the northwestern islands on Thursday night and into Friday. Similar to yesterday, the ECENS is a little farther northwest but stronger with this low compared to the GEFS mean. Low level winds will become stronger and gusty at times from the southeast Thursday, and then southwesterly on Friday. Showers will become widespread with the heaviest precipitation focused near the windward terrain, with several inches of rainfall possible in some spots by Friday night.
