Mean flow will gradually veer from northerly to easterly Tuesday
while a weak boundary moves through. Some moisture pooling near
this boundary could produce light showers gradually moving south
across the state and perhaps stalling over the Big Island,
especially in eastern areas. Winds should lessen around
Wednesday-Thursday as the surface pressure gradient relaxes,
likely allowing for a period of land/sea breezes. Light to
moderate showers are possible as moisture could linger along with
an upper trough providing some instability. Easterly trades should
redevelop by the weekend and persist into early next week. This
will favor possible showers across windward and mauka areas, but
likely limited due to upper ridging. Models have backed off on a
surge of tropical moisture early next week that older runs were
indicating, but will continue to monitor to refine the details in
future forecasts.
