Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 318 AM EDT Sat Mar 15 2025 Valid 00Z Sun 16 Mar 2025 - 00Z Sun 23 Mar 2025 The weakening of surface high pressure centered to the northeast of the state favors more moderate island winds today. However, guidance also indicates that winds should raise to more breezy levels later weekend into next week as another in a series of high pressure cells bridge to the north of the state. Meanwhile, an upper trough is forecast to gradually settle from the west with some lowering heights over Hawaii. This plus a front stalling just to the north and west of the islands will act to draw moisture across the state. Thus, shower coverage and some higher rain totals are more likely over the weekend into early next week. More typical trade winds may return around midweek while moisture levels gradually fall as the trough loses influence. Schichtel
