Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 300 AM EDT Sat Mar 29 2025 Valid 00Z Sun 30 Mar 2025 - 00Z Sun 06 Apr 2025 An upper ridge over Hawaii should linger through much of the weekend bringing weaker trades and lighter rainfall. By next week, the ridge should slowly shift eastward as an amplified trough or upper low meanders north of the state within an overall blocky pattern. There is a lot of spread in the guidance still for whatever develops north of the state, with the better consensus suggesting a deep and fairly stationary upper low. The latest GFS runs however continue to have a more strung out upper trough and is not the favored solution at this point. The cold front for this system may eventually reach close to the northern islands allowing for strengthening southerly winds. Precipitation chances should increase as well, but guidance shows the heaviest precipitation should remain west of the island chain. Santorelli
