Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 341 AM EDT Sat Apr 12 2025 Valid 00Z Sun 13 Apr 2025 - 00Z Sun 20 Apr 2025 Surface high pressure north of Hawaii will promote breezy easterly trades that should continue through the weekend and into early next week. Periods of transient above normal moisture levels will keep this a showery pattern especially Saturday, with the showers favoring windward and mauka areas. High pressure is forecast to weaken and pull away Tuesday and beyond, weakening the trades at least somewhat. Meanwhile a trough aloft will approach, pushing a surface cold front that stalls west of the state for the latter half of next week. There is some uncertainty in how much the winds could veer (and weaken) in response to the front. But there is an increasing model signal for the front to draw moisture northward atop the islands and increase shower coverage. Given the trough aloft, there could be some heavy downpours, so continue to monitor the forecast. Tate
