Hawaii Extended Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 300 AM EDT Thu May 15 2025 Valid 00Z Fri 16 May 2025 - 00Z Fri 23 May 2025 The main subtropical high will be centered to the northeast of Hawaii through early next week. A col developing in the subtropical ridge axis on Friday near 170 degrees west will then evolve into an inverted surface trough situated well west of the state over the weekend. This trough should steadily move westward with time into early-mid next week with no noticeable effects on the Islands. The ensemble means are in relatively good agreement. Low level trade wind flow should generally be easterly most days, with perhaps some ESE component over the weekend. With the surface high likely rebuilding north of the state by the middle of next week, winds should become more ENE. The normal trade wind showers can be expected through the next 7 days, with no major rainfall events expected. Hamrick
