Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 400 AM EDT Fri Apr 19 2013 Valid 12Z Fri Apr 19 2013 - 12Z Sun Apr 21 2013 ...Snow...severe weather and heavy rainfall possible as storm system and its cold front migrate through Great Lakes and the East Coast... A storm system continues to produce snowfall this morning across northeast Minnesota...portions of northern Wisconsin and the upper peninsula of Michigan this morning. More snow showers are likely through the early afternoon hours of Friday. Showers and thunderstorms concentrated along the system's cold front will produce areas of heavy rainfall...gusty winds and hail today across the Southeast...the Ohio Valley and Appalachians. Later tonight and Saturday morning...the front will push offshore...but not before producing more heavy rainfall across the the Northeast...Mid-Atlantic states and Florida. Behind this cold front...cold air in Canada will quickly spread across the eastern 2/3rds of the nation...with high temperatures along the US-Canadian border states struggling to reach 40 today from central Montana to northern Michigan. Low temperatures below freezing are possible over the Great lakes and Northeast over the weekend. In the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies...a weak front will bring rain and high-elevation snows today and tonight...followed by strong high pressure and breezy north and northeast winds for much of the west coast and Great Basin over the weekend.
