Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 416 AM EDT Mon Apr 22 2013 Valid 12Z Mon Apr 22 2013 - 12Z Wed Apr 24 2013 ...Wintry Weather to Spread Eastward from the Rockies to the Central Plains and Upper Midwest... The complex storm system evolving over the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies will gradually edge eastward across the Great Plains during the next couple days, bringing a sharp drop in temperature and more late season ice and snow. Snow is expected from the Rockies across the central Plains and into parts of the upper Midwest, with rain and thunderstorms farther south and east. A little freezing rain and sleet are possible over parts of Kansas late Monday night into early Tuesday--a very rare event for this time of the year. A wavy frontal system off the East Coast is expected to produce showers over Florida Monday, then brush the Outer Banks through Monday night. By Tuesday, the lead low pressure wave associated with this system should begin to produce rain over coastal New England. The Appalachians will be precipitation-free between the two systems, with the far West also dry. Cisco Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
