Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 412 AM EDT Thu Apr 25 2013 Valid 12Z Thu Apr 25 2013 - 12Z Sat Apr 27 2013 ...Tranquil Weather for the Contiguous United States into the Weekend... A number of atmospheric disturbances will meander about the nation into the weekend, though none of them appear vigorous enough to produce notable weather threats. A weak system is expected to track across the Great Lakes and Northeast, accompanied by a patch of rain and snow showers. The tail end of the cold front settling along the Eastern Seaboard may trigger a few mainly afternoon and early evening showers and thunderstorms in the coastal Southeast. A disturbance crossing southern Canada could nick the northern Mississippi River valley with some showers as well. Finally, the upper low currently edging into the far Southwest is expected to wring out a few rain and snow showers across the southern Rockies today. Once this system reaches the southern Great Plains tonight into the weekend, it should be able to tap enough moisture from the Gulf of Mexico to fuel more widespread showers from the Red River valley eastward through the Tennessee River valley and Gulf states.
