Another round of high-elevation snowfalls are possible later tonight and Wednesday morning as a Pacific upper-level low slowly migrates across the Great Basin and Central Rockies. Much of the accumulating snowfall will be confined to areas above 9000ft MSL. At lower elevations... showers and thunderstorms are expected across the western states in association with this slow-moving low pressure system. Much of the stronger convective activity will be occurring in the Four Corners region tonight and continuing across the the southern Plains and Midwest Wednesday and Thursday. The bulk of this upper-level energy and its associated cold front moves into the Ohio Valley on Thursday night and Friday morning...with the threat of severe weather along the front from central Texas and southern Oklahoma northeastward into central Illinois and west central Indiana. A closed low that has delivered copious amounts of rainfall over the past several days in the Southeast...Piedmont...Appalachians and Mid-Ohio Valley regions will gradually migrate through the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states during the next 24 to 36 hours. This system finally exits the Northeast and the Gulf of Maine on Thursday evening. An additional 1-2 inches of rainfall is forecast for portions of the northern Mid-Atlantic region and New England before this system moves into the Canadian Maritime provinces.
