Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 348 AM EDT Tue May 14 2013 Valid 12Z Tue May 14 2013 - 12Z Thu May 16 2013 ***Moderating temperatures over the Eastern U.S.*** ***Warm weather for the Central U.S. and Ohio Valley*** ***Showers for the Northeast and storms for Texas*** Given the trough in the East and the ridge in the Central U.S., one more cool day is in store for the East Coast on Tuesday before warmer weather arrives by the middle of the week. Farther west, June-like temperatures are in the forecast from the central Plains to the Ohio Valley through Wednesday after the passage of a strong warm front. High temperatures should rise well into the 80s for many of these areas, along with increasing levels of humidity. This warmer airmass is expected to reach the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic region by Wednesday. In the precipitation department, a rather uneventful pattern is expected over the continental U.S. for the next couple of days. Some scattered shower activity is likely over coastal regions of the Pacific Northwest and the spine of the northern Rockies as a cold front and upper level energy pass through that region. Some scattered showers and storms will also be possible from the Great Lakes to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast as a frontal system moves through. Showers and storms are also likely over the Southern Plains and into Arkansas with southerly flow from the Gulf of Mexico. D.
