Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 358 PM EDT Tue May 14 2013 Valid 00Z Wed May 15 2013 - 00Z Fri May 17 2013 ...Severe thunderstorms are possible over parts of South-Central Texas... A front extending from the Upper Great Lakes southwestward to the Central Plains will move eastward to the Northeast Coast by Thursday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the front over the Upper Great Lakes moving to the Northeast by Wednesday evening and off the coast by Thursday. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will flow northward over the Plains and interact with the boundary to produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Central Plains eastward into the Ohio Valley Wednesday evening into Thursday. In addition, weak upper-level energy will trigger showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southern Plains moving into the Middle/Lower Mississippi Valley by Thursday morning. Meanwhile, a front moving onshore over the Pacific Northwest, on Wednesday, will move eastward to the Northern Rockies/Northern High Plains by Thursday morning. The system will produce rain along the Northwest Coast through Wednesday evening. The storm will also produce rain over parts of the Northern Rockies/Northern High Plains on Thursday. Behind the system, onshore flow will aid in producing scattered rain along the Pacific Northwest Coast Wednesday night into Thursday. Elsewhere, diurnal heating will produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Central Rockies during the late afternoon and evening on Tuesday/Wednesday.
