Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 410 AM EDT Tue May 28 2013 Valid 12Z Tue May 28 2013 - 12Z Thu May 30 2013 ...There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms from the Great Lakes to the Middle Mississippi Valley to the Southern Plains... ...Heavy rain possible over parts of the Central Plains/Middle Mississippi Valley and the southern tip of Florida... A warm front will slowly lift northeastward from the Middle Mississippi Valley/Great Lakes/Mid-Atlantic into Southeast Canada/Northeast by Wednesday evening. Moderate to heavy rain will develop over the Lower Great Lakes to the Mid-Atlantic, advancing into New England/Maine by Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms, sometimes with moderate rain, will develop over the Middle Mississippi Valley and expand into the Great Lakes by Tuesday evening. By Wednesday evening, light showers and thunderstorms will move into Southern New England. Meanwhile, additional upper-level energy will enter a deep upper-level trough over the Rockies producing late afternoon and early evening showers and thunderstorms with late night/early morning rain over parts of the Northern Rockie/Great Basin expanding into the Central Rockies/Northern High Plains Tuesday into Wednesday. In addition, showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the Northern/Central Plains on late Tuesday night into Wednesday, expanding eastward into the Great Lakes by Wednesday evening. In the meantime, the energy will also trigger showers and thunderstorms ahead of a dryline over parts of the Central/Southern Plains during the afternoons into the late evening Tuesday and Wednesday. Furthermore, easterly flow and weak upper-level energy will produce showers and thunderstorms over the southern tip of Florida through Wednesday evening. Additionally, a weakening front moving onshore over the Pacific Northwest will produce light rain over parts of the region Tuesday night into Wednesday.
