Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 509 PM EDT Sun Jun 02 2013 Valid 00Z Mon Jun 03 2013 - 00Z Wed Jun 05 2013 ...Storms will continue to break out ahead of a cold front pushing towards the Eastern Seaboard.... ...A fresh surge of drier and cooler air expected for the Northeast and northern Mid-Atlantic states... ...Moderate to heavy rains expected across the Northern Rockies and Northern Plains... Numerous showers and thunderstorms will continue to breakout ahead of a cold front slowly crossing the Appalachians Sunday night. The widespread threat of flash flooding has diminished...but some storms could still contain locally heavy downpours and severe weather. SPC has highlighted a slight risk area from the Delmarva northeastward into Maine. The stormy weather will be slow to clear the Eastern U.S. on Monday...but by Tuesday morning...the northern portion of the front will push out into the Atlantic...leaving behind cooler and drier air for the Northeast and northern Mid-Atlantic states. Meanwhile...a persistent supply of deep moisture across Florida will allow for showers and thunderstorms to continue to soak the sunshine state. Out west...a cold front will drop southeastward out of the Northwestern corner of the country. A lack of moisture will limit any shower activity across much of the Great Basin...but as the upper energy supporting this system slides farther inland and closes off...some moderate to heavy rains will develop across the Northern Rockies and spread eastward into the Northern Plains. Elsewhere...a weak disturbance aloft combined with some return flow from the Gulf of Mexico should trigger some scattered convection across portions of the Southern Rockies and Southern Plains.
