Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 451 PM EDT Mon Jun 03 2013 Valid 00Z Tue Jun 04 2013 - 00Z Thu Jun 06 2013 ...Conditions should dry out and cool off over the Northeast and northern Mid-Atlantic states... ...Showers and thunderstorms will continue to soak Florida... ...Severe weather possible over the Great Plains... Skies will continue to clear out over the Northeast and northern Mid-Atlantic states as a cold front pushes farther out into the Atlantic. Cooler and drier air filling in behind the front should make for pleasant conditions across the region through the middle of the week. Farther south however...the front will struggle to push through the Carolinas and Southeast. The lingering frontal boundary...combined with a persistent supply of deep tropical moisture...will help trigger numerous showers and thunderstorms across the southeastern corner of the country the next few days. The heaviest rains and most organized areas of storms should be over Florida...which already saw its fair share of precipitation this past weekend. A frontal system pushing out of the Rockies will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms as it presses eastward through the Great Plains and Midwest. Increasing amounts of moisture/instability surging northward out of the Gulf of Mexico could allow some storms to become more organized and potentially produce severe weather. Also...moisture getting pulled around the anchoring surface low should lead to an axis of moderate to heavy rains across portions of the Northern Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley.
