Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 353 AM EDT Wed Jun 5 2013 Valid 12Z Wed Jun 5 2013 - 12Z Fri Jun 7 2013 ***Another day of nice weather for the Eastern United States*** ***Unsettled weather for Florida through Wednesday*** ***More showers and thunderstorms for the Central U.S.*** A refreshing airmass currently over the northeastern quadrant of the country should remain for another day before more humid conditions arrive by the end of the week. The good news is that no heat wave is expected as highs stay close to average. Highs on Wednesday should be in the 70s to low 80s for the Ohio Valley, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast U.S. Farther to the south, the stalled front is expected to gradually wash out and dissipate. This means that the high humidity and mostly cloudy skies will likely continue through the end of the week, with highs in the 80s and low 90s, and dewpoints in the 60s to lower 70s. The area with the greatest rainfall will likely be the Florida Peninsula where copious amounts of moisture surging northward out of the Tropics will lead to numerous showers and storms. A frontal system crossing the Plains will provide the forcing necessary for scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop from Texas northward to the Upper Midwest and Dakotas. Increasing amounts of moisture and instability advecting northward from the Gulf of Mexico may result in the development of organized thunderstorm complexes, and some of these storms may become severe at times. This system is forecast to weaken as it approaches the Ohio Valley by Thursday night, but it will still have enough moisture for at least scattered showers and storms.
