Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 521 AM EDT Tue Jun 11 2013 Valid 12Z Tue Jun 11 2013 - 12Z Thu Jun 13 2013 ...Steady rains expected across New England on Tuesday... ...Severe storms possible across the Northern Plains and Midwest... ...Well above average temperatures expected across the central Plains states... After a day of wet and stormy weather...conditions should begin to clear out across the Mid-Atlantic states on Tuesday as a cold front pushes away from the Eastern Seaboard. Farther north...moisture wrapping around a surface low intensifying off the New England coast will bring steady rains into the Northeast on Tuesday. The low will be slow to exit from the coast...allowing precipitation to linger into Wednesday. Farther south...scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast across Florida. Light and scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to the north of a frontal boundary stretched through the Northern Plains and Midwest on Tuesday. On Wednesday...shortwave energy ejecting out of the Rockies will help strengthen the boundary...and heavier...more organized...precipitation should develop over the Upper Mississippi and Ohio Valleys. Flash flooding and severe weather will both be a possibility to the north of the frontal boundary. To the south of the front...an upper ridge centered over the Central Plains will bring more days of well above average temperatures. Meanwhile...a strong cold front will continue to progress inland over the Western U.S.. Besides for a few scattered showers over the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies...this system will not be a big precipitation maker during the short range period. However...temperatures will be noticeably cooler behind the boundary. Gerhardt Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
