Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 457 PM EDT Fri Jun 14 2013 Valid 00Z Sat Jun 15 2013 - 00Z Mon Jun 17 2013 ***Pleasant weather for the East Coast*** ***More storms for the Plains and Midwest*** Northerly flow behind a departing surface low pressure system over the western Atlantic will bring another day of wonderful weather to the East Coast on Saturday, with highs in the 70s and 80s and low humidity. Sunday should be a few degrees warmer with a few showers and storms for the Great Lakes region and into the Ohio Valley, but still a relatively nice day for most locations for the eastern third of the U.S. Out over the central states, a well-developed cyclone just north of the Canadian border will drive a weak cold front through the northern Plains and Great Lakes. This boundary should act as a focus for showers and thunderstorm activity as it moves through the region. During the overnight hours, these thunderstorms should migrate eastward before dissipating during the morning hours. Across the southern Plains, moisture advecting northward from the Gulf of Mexico sets the stage for showers and thunderstorms across central and eastern Texas through the period. Mainly dry conditions are expected for the western states with the exception of a few isolated showers in the Pacific Northwest.
