Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 307 AM EDT Mon Jul 08 2013 Valid 12Z Mon Jul 08 2013 - 12Z Wed Jul 10 2013 ***Scattered showers and storms for the Eastern U.S.*** ***Cooler air presses east and southeastward across the Northern Rockies to the Plains with heavy showers and thunderstorms across the Northern Plains into the Upper Mississippi Valley*** Very warm and humid conditions will persist across the eastern United States. A weakening disturbance will finally move eastward across the Northeast coast but scattered showers and thundershowers will persist across the Southeast and over portions of the Ohio Valley and the Northeast through Tuesday. A complex area of low pressure will develop across the Northern Plains on Monday into Tuesday as cooler air begins to move southeastward across the Northwest into the northern Rockies and finally across the Central and Northern Plains into the upper Mississippi Valley by early Wednesday. Showers and some heavy thunderstorms are expected to develop with this system and could produce locally heavy rainfall across parts of the Northern Plains states into the upper Mississippi Valley late Monday into Tuesday and early Wednesday. Hot weather will remain over the Southwest into the Southern Plains while monsoonal moisture will spawn mainly afternoon and evening thunderstorms in portions of the Southwest to Rocky Mountains states.
