Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 450 PM EDT Mon Jul 8 2013 Valid 00Z Tue Jul 9 2013 - 00Z Thu Jul 11 2013 ***Scattered showers and storms for the Eastern U.S.*** ***Monsoonal moisture for the Central and Southern Rockies*** ***Continued hot conditions for the Desert Southwest*** The southerly flow on the western side of the Bermuda High over the Atlantic will result in warm and humid conditions for much of the Eastern U.S. The moist atmosphere, combined with daytime heating, will support the development of scattered showers and thunderstorms. A few organized thunderstorm complexes may develop, which may lead to areas of locally heavy rainfall. Temporary relief from the recent hot weather will come as scattered showers and thunderstorms can be expected throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. In the Desert Southwest and into the Southern Plains, hot conditions are expected to continue through the middle of the week. Scattered convection is expected to fire up across the Rockies over the next couple of days as some monsoonal moisture surges northward out of Mexico. Elsewhere, a cold front is forecast to descend from the Northern Plains into the nation's midsection, bringing cooler and drier conditions to many across the Midwest states.
