Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 451 PM EDT Mon Jul 22 2013 Valid 00Z Tue Jul 23 2013 - 00Z Thu Jul 25 2013 ***Scattered showers and storms for the Eastern U.S.*** ***Monsoonal moisture continues in the Southwestern U.S.*** After last week's heat wave and anomalous upper low over the Southern U.S., conditions for the next couple of days will resemble more of a typical summer-time pattern. Temperatures in the mid 80s to low 90s will be commonplace for high temperatures over much of the Southeast states and into the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic states. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible each day as a trough of low pressure becomes established over the region, along with plenty of low level moisture. Drier and slightly cooler conditions should arrive by Wednesday with the passage of another cold front. Out West, more of the same can be expected with diurnally driven showers and storms for much of the Southwest states and even into parts of California as Monsoonal moisture advects northward from Mexico. The remnants of the upper level low near California will also help to enhance the coverage of precipitation, with the lowest amounts near the coast.
