Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 428 PM EDT Tue Jul 23 2013 Valid 00Z Wed Jul 24 2013 - 00Z Fri Jul 26 2013 ***Scattered showers and storms for the Eastern U.S.*** ***Monsoonal moisture continues in the Southwestern U.S.*** The overall weather pattern across the U.S. will feature a developing trough across the East Coast and a ridge over the Inter-Mountain West. This will mean cooler and more pleasant conditions from the Midwest states eastward to the Mid-Atlantic region. Farther to the south, scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible through the middle of the week across the Deep South and into Florida as moisture and instability will be present. A few organized thunderstorm complexes will be possible. Out West, more of the same can be expected with diurnally driven showers and storms for much of the Southwest states and even into parts of California as Monsoonal moisture advects northward from Mexico. The remnants of the upper level low near California will also help to enhance the coverage of precipitation, with the lowest amounts near the coast.
