Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 455 PM EDT Wed Jul 24 2013 Valid 00Z Thu Jul 25 2013 - 00Z Sat Jul 27 2013 ***High quality weather from the Upper Midwest to New England*** ***Numerous thunderstorms for the Central Plains*** ***Scattered storms for the Inter-Mountain West and Deep South*** The overall weather pattern across the U.S. will feature a trough across the East Coast and a ridge over the Inter-Mountain West. This will mean cooler and more pleasant conditions from the Midwest states eastward to the Mid-Atlantic region. Farther to the south, scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible through the end of the week across the Deep South and into Florida as moisture and instability will be present. However, the greatest concentration of rain and thunderstorm activity will likely be over the Central Plains, where a few organized thunderstorm complexes are likely to develop. Out West, more of the same can be expected with diurnally driven showers and storms for much of the Southwest states and even into parts of California as Monsoonal moisture advects northward from Mexico. Elsewhere, another cold front will sweep across the Northern Plains into the Upper Midwest by Thursday evening, bringing another high quality airmass from Canada into the region. Said front will promote the development of showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Northern Plains overnight Wednesday, which will then move into the Upper Great Lakes and Upper Midwest by Thursday night.
