Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 452 AM EDT Tue Jul 30 2013 Valid 12Z Tue Jul 30 2013 - 12Z Thu Aug 01 2013 ...The same complex of storms that rocked portions of Kansas and Oklahoma will move east into the Middle Mississippi...Tennessee...and Lower Ohio Valleys on Tuesday... The same complex of thunderstorms that rocked portions of Kansas and Oklahoma on Monday will propagate eastward into the Middle Mississippi...Tennessee...and Lower Ohio Valleys on Tuesday. Anomalous moisture pumping northward ahead of a warm front surging through the region will continue to fuel these storms...allowing for the heavy rains and flash flood threat to continue. Strong to severe storms will also be a possibility with this system. On Wednesday...the warm front and abundance of moisture will begin creeping into the Mid-Atlantic states...putting an end to the dry and pleasant conditions previously in place. Flash flooding will remain a concern as the organized area of storms spread out over the central and southern Appalachians...but rainfall rates are not expected to be as intense as what fell over Kansas on Monday. A cold front crossing the northern tier of the Nation will trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms as it presses from the Northern Plains to the Great Lakes over the next few days. Limited moisture should keep rainfall totals light to moderate...but some developing storms will have the capability to produce severe weather. Please refer to the Storm Prediction Center for the latest information on the severe weather threat. A frontal boundary lingering over the Southeast will keep showers and thunderstorms in the forecast across Florida and up into the Carolinas. Convection will be mostly scattered in nature...but portions of the Carolina coast could see some more organized areas of storms and higher precipitation totals on Tuesday.
