In the west... a pesky upper level low just offshore northern California will slowly move northward along the Oregon coast. This will bring a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms to the area... especially along the Cascades. Monsoonal moisture will continue over New Mexico with a chance of especially afternoon showers and storms. To the north... a stationary front will act as a spark for convection to develop to the lee of the Rockies into the Northern Plains. In the east... a cold front will push toward the coast by early Saturday. An initial bout of heavy rain is possible in New England before drier and slightly cooler air infiltrates into the region. Dew point temperatures should drop a noticeable 10-15F though air temperatures may only fall a few degrees for afternoon highs. The tail-end of the front will remain stalled across the Lower MS Valley into Texas. Warm/hot temperatures will persist in the Southern Plains and slowly edge northward over the next two days. Precipitation should focus along and east of the MS River under more favorable upper level conditions. Though showers and thunderstorms are likely over the region... no widespread severe weather is anticipated per the Storm Prediction Center. Locally heavy rain will remain a threat in more developed and slowly moving storms. WPC has highlighted the areas from OK eastward through the mid-MS into the OH Valley and then TN/KY with a slight chance of flash flooding Friday into Saturday... respectively.
