Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 309 AM EDT Sun Aug 11 2013 Valid 12Z Sun Aug 11 2013 - 12Z Tue Aug 13 2013 ...More rain for the Central US into the Southeast... In the Pacific Northwest... precipitation should gradually wind down into Monday as the upper low weakens and moves into southwestern Canada late Monday. Continued monsoonal moisture--though limited--should help fuel afternoon showers/storms over NM/CO. Temperatures should be near to slightly below normal in the west. In the Central Plains... convection may be severe today especially over Nebraska per the Storm Prediction Center as a surface front slowly moves southward. The airmass over the Central Plains remains primed with a southerly flow reloading available moisture until the front can edge a bit farther south. In the East... a stalled boundary will eventually wash out on Monday over the southern MS valley but should remain a weak feature over the Mid-Atlantic states. Precipitation should focus along and south of the front with near normal temperatures expected across the Southeast. Florida should be relatively dry thanks to mid-level ridging and decreased atmospheric moisture. By late Monday a front moving out of Canada should sweep through the Great Lakes bringing a shot of cooler air into the region... but with little precipitation.
