Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 326 AM EDT Wed Aug 14 2013 Valid 12Z Wed Aug 14 2013 - 12Z Fri Aug 16 2013 ...A taste of fall for the Northeastern third of the CONUS... ...Southeast coast to remain wet... A cold front will continue to push into Atlantic Canada today with a chance of wrap-around showers to Northern New England. A much drier and also cooler airmass will be felt throughout the region. Temperatures should drop into the upper 30s or 40s in the interior/colder areas tonight with 50s to near 60 common along the I-95 urban core from Richmond northward. High pressure will rule the roost the next two days as it slides eastward. The southern portion of the front is expected to stall out near the Gulf Coast... supporting widespread showers and thunderstorms. Over the central plains... where above normal moisture and a lingering frontal boundary are co-located... scattered afternoon showers/storms are also possible. New Mexico should see a decrease in monsoonal moisture as ridging spreads into the region. A Pacific front is forecast to approach the northwest corner of the lower 48... edging its precipitation shield onshore later today. However... the system will gradually shift its focus into Canada while weakening as it moves inland tomorrow... keeping showers mostly confined to coastal Oregon but probably into the Cascades of Washington.
