Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 340 PM EDT Fri Aug 16 2013 Valid 00Z Sat Aug 17 2013 - 00Z Mon Aug 19 2013 ...Heavy rain expected for Central/Eastern Gulf Coast through Southern Mid Atlantic... ...Temperatures will be about 10 degrees below average over parts of the Southeast, Midwest, and Northeast... A quasi-stationary boundary in the Southeast will be the focus for heavy rainfall through Sunday. Deep southerly flow off the Gulf of Mexico is supplying the region with above normal moisture. This moist airmass combined with a strengthening upper level jet and weak mid level disturbances will produce numerous rounds of heavy rainfall along the front. The front, currently draped along the Gulf Coast and into the western Atlantic, is expected to slowly wander northward toward the Mid Atlantic by Sunday. High pressure in place across the Northeast and Midwest will keep the weather sunny and dry. Temperatures today and tonight are expected to be up to 10 degrees below normal, which should make it feel more like fall than summer. The dry weather is expected to persist through the weekend, with a gradual warming. Temperatures will also be below normal across much of the southeast. The persist cloud cover and expected rainfall will keep temperatures down across the region. Krekeler Graphics available at www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/basicwx/basicwx_wbg.php
