Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 417 PM EDT Wed Aug 28 2013 Valid 00Z Thu Aug 29 2013 - 00Z Sat Aug 31 2013 ...There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms over parts of the Northern Plains... ...Temperatures will be 10 to near 20 degrees above average across parts of the Northern High Plains, Northern/Central Plains, and the Upper Great Lakes... A front extending from the Mid-Atlantic to the Northern Plains will develop showers and thunderstorms along and near the boundary over the Mid-Atlantic moving into the Southeast by Friday. Showers and thunderstorms will also develop over the Northern Plains/Upper Mississippi Valley starting overnight Wednesday moving into the Great Lakes by Friday morning. Another weak front over Northern New England will dissipate by Thursday morning producing showers and thunderstorms over parts of New England continuing through Friday. Upper-level energy off the Pacific Northwest Coast will produce light rain with a rumble of thunder over parts of the region through Friday. In addition, diurnal heating and monsoonal moisture will aid in developing showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southern/Central Rockies, Southwest, and the Great Basin through Friday.
