Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 400 PM EDT Sun Sep 01 2013 Valid 00Z Mon Sep 02 2013 - 00Z Wed Sep 04 2013 ***Heat continues for Big Sky Country*** ***Widespread rain threat increases for the Northeast*** The main weather-maker for this Labor Day will be a healthy cold front currently moving through the Great Lakes and central Mississippi River valley. Showers and thunderstorms will precede and accompany its arrival into the Northeast on your holiday Monday... with cooler and drier air filtering in behind it. Temperatures are expected to be some 10-15 degrees cooler over the western Great Lakes region tomorrow morning compared to this morning. Scattered showers and storms will be possible across the Southeast tomorrow especially in the afternoon. The inter-mountain west will again see numerous afternoon showers and storms in part to well above normal moisture in the atmosphere. A Pacific system should only slowly move toward the WA/OR coast with light showers creeping on shore by Monday morning.
