Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 315 AM EDT Tue Sep 3 2013 Valid 12Z Tue Sep 3 2013 - 12Z Thu Sep 5 2013 ***Two cold fronts to affect the Eastern U.S.*** ***Scattered showers and storms for the Western U.S.*** After several days of very warm and humid conditions over much of the Eastern U.S., a refreshing airmass with temperatures more typical of September can be expected with the passage of a cold front currently near the East Coast. Scattered showers and storms will be possible across the coastal Carolinas and into the Deep South through Wednesday south of this frontal boundary, which should gradually stall and wash out. Another reinforcing cold front is forecast to move southward out of Canada by Wednesday night and bring more cooler and drier weather. Elsewhere across the continental U.S., scattered showers and storms can be expected for the Desert Southwest and into the Inter-Mountain West with lingering monsoonal moisture in place. Localized heavy rainfall will be possible. Warmer than average conditions are expected for the Northern Rockies and western High Plains.
