Short Range Forecast Discussion NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park MD 454 PM EDT Fri Oct 11 2013 Valid 00Z Sat Oct 12 2013 - 00Z Mon Oct 14 2013 ***Foul weather continues for the Mid-Atlantic states*** ***Valley rain and mountain snow for the Inter-Mountain West*** The nor'easter along the Mid-Atlantic coast has weakened. However, it is still bringing widespread rainfall from Virginia to New Jersey. Localized areas of heavy rainfall remain possible over these areas as moisture from the Atlantic Ocean continues to stream inland. Away from the steady rainfall, low clouds and widespread drizzle are likely to continue through Saturday. A developing storm system over the Northern and Central Plains will lift northward into southern Canada by Saturday. The associated cold front over the Plains will move eastward towards the Ohio Valley by Saturday evening. Showers and thunderstorms are likely ahead of the cold front, with heavy rain over parts of the Northern Plains through early Saturday. Owing to boundary layer temperatures above freezing, most of this precipitation over the Plains should be in the form of rain. D.
